In order to best choose the size of your future jewelry, here is a size guide providing useful information for comparing, measuring and choosing the right size jewelry.

PLEASE NOTE: This size guide is a general suggestion based on our experience with piercings. Please note that depending on individual body shape and the conditions under which the piercing was performed, it is important to consider that the length and/or choice of jewelry may vary from person to person.

General information

The belly button piercing jewelry (also called banana bell) is mainly made up of a curved bar with a screw-on ball on the upper part and a pattern on the lower part (flower belly button piercing or salamander belly button piercing for example).

There are also reverse navel piercings: this means that the jewelry is inserted from top to bottom with the screw-on ball inside the navel. The jewelry thus covers the pierced part for an elegant and original look.

What size is a belly button piercing?

The bar thickness (screw) for a navel piercing is always 1.6mm .

The standard bar length for a navel piercing is 10mm .

This is also the bar length that is generally recommended when drilling (prosthesis).

However the bar length can also vary between 6mm and 10mm (6mm, 8mm or 10mm)

How to measure your belly button piercing?

It's important to have a belly button jewelry with a barbell that's the right length. A barbell that's too short will compress the skin and could be painful, while a barbell that's too long will cause snagging and, if worn repeatedly, will reduce the skin space between the two piercing holes.

To measure your navel piercing, the element to take into account is the bar length (in millimeters): the bar length corresponds to the distance between the top ball and the bottom ball (or motif).

Note: The screw pitch is not taken into account when measuring the bar length.

The bar length will, as previously stated, be between 6mm and 10mm, with the 10mm bar length being the “standard” size.

Alternatively, to know the length of bar you need for your navel piercing, you can measure directly on your navel the space between the two holes (in mm):
