NOSE Piercing: How to choose the right nose piercing?

In order to best choose the size of your future nose jewel, here is a size guide providing useful information for comparing, measuring and choosing the right size jewel.

General information

Nose piercing offers different jewelry options that can be worn, the most common types of jewelry being:

The nose stud

This is the most common nose jewelry, consisting of a bar that can be curved either into a right angle or a "U" shape. (diamond nose piercing, flower nose stud, emerald nose piercing for example)

The U-shaped (standard) nose piercing bar is the most suitable and common type of nose jewelry. It can be difficult to insert, but once in place, it is a very stable piece of jewelry on the nostril and is unlikely to fall off.

The L-shaped (right angle) nose piercing bar makes it a particularly easy piece of jewelry to remove and replace.

The nose ring

The nose ring is the trendy nose jewelry. However, it is important to wait for it to heal completely (approximately 6 months) before wearing this type of jewelry.

What size is a nose piercing?

The bar thickness for nose piercing is 0.8mm , this is the standard size. Some people sometimes put nose jewelry with a thicker bar of 1.2mm, but this remains uncommon.

How to choose the right nose jewelry?

Since the bar thickness for nose piercings is standard (0.8mm), you won't have to worry about choosing the bar diameter. In other words, your choice of jewelry will be based on the final result you want for your nose piercing.

For nose studs , a shine between 1.5mm and 2.5mm will make it a discreet jewel (like a small sparkle) while nose jewels with a shine or pattern beyond 3mm will make it a more visible jewel on the nose (gold snake nose piercing or infinity nose piercing for example)

For nose rings , it is important to have a ring that is the right size. To do this, you can simply take a ring that you already own and measure its internal diameter:

Note that the ring size for nose piercing is between 6mm and 8mm, with 7mm being the most common size.

But be careful, each person has a different morphology and/or has been pierced differently.

Alternatively, to know the ring size you will need, you can measure the length (in mm) between the piercing hole and the edge of the nostril: this measurement will give you in millimeters the approximate size most suitable for you.

For example , if the length of the space between your nose piercing hole and the edge of the nostril is 6mm, then you will need to choose a ring with a diameter of 6mm.

(note that if you are hesitating between 2 sizes, 6mm and 7mm for example, opt for the smaller size, 6mm)
